Gujarat

Gujarat is the westernmost state of India. It is bounded by the Arabian Sea to the west and southwest, and Pakistan to the north. The state of Rajasthan is to the northeast, Madhya Pradesh to the east, and Maharashtra and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli to the south and southeast of Gujarat.

Gujarat, the land of legendary Krishna and Mahatma Gandhi, offers a wide range of the spectacular tourists attractions including breathtaking locations and scenic landscapes. Home to several architectural marvels, Gujarat is also a melting pot of several civilizations resulting in a vibrant culture and a rich heritage and pilgrim centres for many faiths.

Weather

The summer season during March to May is hot. The south-west monsoon brings respite from the heat in June in form of rain. The rainy season ends in September. Winters from November to February are pleasent.

Gujarat has lot to offer. The major attraction includes Archaeological and Historical Destination, Beaches, Cultural Centres, Hill Stations, Wildlife and Temples. The prominent destination of the state are Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kutch & Bhuj, Palitana, Porbandar, Rajkot, Saputara, Sasangir, Somnath, Surat and Vadodara.

 

Festivals & Events

Gujarat could well be termed the 'Land of Festivals and Fairs' with almost 3,500 of them being celebrated in different parts of the state every year. Some of the major fairs of the state includes Trinetreshwar Mahadev Fair (Tarnetar Mela), Vautha Mela, Shamlaji Mela, Dhrang Fair, Bhavnath Mahadev Mela, Dangs Darbar, and Chitra Vichitra Mela.

The major festivals og Gujarat are Summer Festival, The International Kite Festivals, Navaratri, the Kutch Mahotsav, Modhera Dance Festival, Janamasthami, Diwali, Holi, Raksha Bandhan and Rath Yatras.
 

Interesting Fact

An interesting festival by the name of Uttarayan is celebrated in Gujarat when people of all ages fly kites from dawn to dusk.

When to Go

The best time to visit Kerala is during December to May.
